That's their escalão for the whole 2026-2027 season. 2026-2027 seasonUpdated September 2026 Escalões and birth years, 2026-2027 season | Born | Escalão | TAC tables | | --- | --- | --- | | 2014 | Infantis B | [See the TACs](https://swimtrack.ai/time-standards/portugal-fpn-tac/#tac-inf-b) | | 2013 | Infantis A | [See the TACs](https://swimtrack.ai/time-standards/portugal-fpn-tac/#tac-inf-a) | | 2012 | Juvenis B | [See the TACs](https://swimtrack.ai/time-standards/portugal-fpn-tac/#tac-juv-b) | | 2011 | Juvenis A | [See the TACs](https://swimtrack.ai/time-standards/portugal-fpn-tac/#tac-juv-a) | | 2009–2010 | Juniores | [See the TACs](https://swimtrack.ai/time-standards/portugal-fpn-tac/#tac-jun) | | 2010 | Juniores (1st year) | [See the TACs](https://swimtrack.ai/time-standards/portugal-fpn-tac/#tac-jun) | | 2008 and earlier | Seniores | [See the TACs](https://swimtrack.ai/time-standards/portugal-fpn-tac/#tac-sen) | | 2006–2008 | Seniores Sub-21 | [See the TACs](https://swimtrack.ai/time-standards/portugal-fpn-tac/#tac-sen) | Sub-21 (born 2006–2008) is a column inside Seniores, not a separate escalão. ## How escalões work - **Birth year, not birthday.** Everyone born in the same year is in the same escalão. A January and a December birthday race the same times. - **It changes once a season.** The whole group moves up when the season opens. This season that was September 15, 2026. - **Expect a harder table in September.** Same swimmer, new column. A best time from August is still a best time. Say that first. - **One birth year each, up to Juvenis A.** Those swimmers get new TACs every season. Juniores covers two years. Seniores has no upper limit. - **Born early in the year?** That's an edge at 11 or 12. It fades, and no table shows it. - **No TAC below Infantis B.** Younger swimmers race association and regional meets. Those years are for learning to race. What it opens ## Championships each escalão can enter The escalão decides which championships are open. The TAC decides whether your swimmer gets in. ### Infantis B - Torneios Zonais de Infantis (February 26 – 28, 2027) Zonal - Campeonatos Nacionais de Infantis (July 23 – 25, 2027) National ### Infantis A - Torneios Zonais de Infantis (February 26 – 28, 2027) Zonal - Campeonatos Nacionais de Infantis (July 23 – 25, 2027) National ### Juvenis B - Torneio Zonal de Juvenis (December 4 – 6, 2026) Zonal - Campeonato Nacional de Juvenis (April 2 – 4, 2027) National - Campeonatos Nacionais de Juvenis, Juniores e Seniores (July 29 – August 1, 2027) National ### Juvenis A - Torneio Zonal de Juvenis (December 4 – 6, 2026) Zonal - Campeonato Nacional de Juvenis (April 2 – 4, 2027) National - Campeonatos Nacionais de Juvenis, Juniores e Seniores (July 29 – August 1, 2027) National ### Juniores - Campeonatos Nacionais de Juniores e Seniores de Piscina Curta (December 10 – 13, 2026) National - Campeonatos Nacionais de Juniores, Sub21 e Absolutos — Open de Portugal / Astralpool (April 8 – 11, 2027) National - Campeonatos Nacionais de Juvenis, Juniores e Seniores (July 29 – August 1, 2027) National ### Juniores (1st year) - Campeonatos Nacionais de Juniores e Seniores de Piscina Curta (December 10 – 13, 2026) National - Campeonatos Nacionais de Juniores, Sub21 e Absolutos — Open de Portugal / Astralpool (April 8 – 11, 2027) National - Campeonatos Nacionais de Juvenis, Juniores e Seniores (July 29 – August 1, 2027) National ### Seniores - Campeonatos Nacionais de Juniores e Seniores de Piscina Curta (December 10 – 13, 2026) National - Campeonatos Nacionais de Juniores, Sub21 e Absolutos — Open de Portugal / Astralpool (April 8 – 11, 2027) National - Campeonatos Nacionais de Juvenis, Juniores e Seniores (July 29 – August 1, 2027) National ### Seniores Sub-21 - Campeonatos Nacionais de Juniores e Seniores de Piscina Curta (December 10 – 13, 2026) National - Campeonatos Nacionais de Juniores, Sub21 e Absolutos — Open de Portugal / Astralpool (April 8 – 11, 2027) National - Campeonatos Nacionais de Juvenis, Juniores e Seniores (July 29 – August 1, 2027) National Questions ## Common questions ### How are swimming escalões decided in Portugal? By birth year. The FPN sets a birth year for each escalão, and it stays fixed all season. ### When does my swimmer change escalão? When the new season opens, not on a birthday. The 2026-2027 season opened on September 15, 2026. ### Which escalão is a swimmer born in 2013? Infantis A for the 2026-2027 season. The table at the top lists every year. ### What is the difference between Juniores and Sub-21? They're different columns at the same championships. Juniores covers two birth years. Sub-21 covers the three years above, alongside Seniores. The lookup ## Check your own swimmer Enter a birth date. The lookup names the escalão and shows every TAC, with the gap to each. The reference time that every other column was derived from in 2025-26 is no longer published, so this season's file has no ABS set and no open category. The Open de Portugal still asks entrants for “o TAC (Anexo a)”; the columns the annex gives that meet are Sénior, Sub21, Júnior and 1ºJúnior. - In the published PDF a black rectangle covers about one table cell in ten and hides the time printed there. Those cells were read from the document's own text layer by three separate extraction engines, which agree on all 1,352 cells. - The 100 m estilos row is printed only in the short-course table, and only for the four Juniores/Seniores columns. - A few cells in the women's 800 m livres break the usual pattern: short-course Infantis A equals its long-course twin, short-course Infantis B (Zon) equals its long-course twin, and short-course Infantis A (Zon) is slower than long course. They are transcribed as printed. - The legend prints +7% for 1ºJúnior in both sexes, but the women's 1ºJúnior column is arithmetically about 6% above the same implied base, as it was in 2025-26. - JUN1 → birth year 2010 is inferred (flagged on the age group). - Season dates: FPN Circular 05/26 starts the natação pura season on 15 September 2026; the regulation's Taça de Portugal sections call 30 September the last day of the current season. No single season window is stated in one place. - The regulation names the pool only for the Campeonatos Nacionais de Juniores e Seniores de Piscina Curta and for the Campeonatos Nacionais de Juvenis, Juniores e Seniores (Piscina Longa). The pool recorded for the other five championships follows the 2025-26 dataset and Portuguese practice. - The source is the Leiria association's republished copy of the FPN regulation; the FPN's own site could not be read. --- SwimTrack — https://swimtrack.ai HTML version of this page: https://swimtrack.ai/time-standards/portugal-escaloes/
